This released just as I was gearing up for college. I remember hearing Get Lucky on the radio that whole summer and loving that song. Then I started college and my roommate had the whole album and I really fell right in: it's such an adventurous album, from radio hits like Get Lucky to more unique explorative tracks like Contact and Touch. There's such a sense of life about the album: it really takes you someplace, and wherever that place is, I spent my college years making frequent visits.

It's crazy how much time has passed now. This album brings back a lotta memories and I can hardly believe all that time's gone by. Random Access Memories indeed.

Then this is as good of a time as any to remind everyone about the greatest mashup album ever made: Random Access Fhqwhgads. Which, if you know anything about Homestar Runner, is exactly what you think it is.

I listened to this album on my new sound system for the first time today, inspired by this thread.

Oh GAF. Hold me. It's so beautiful

(Listening on an LG SH7 4.1 Sound bar btw).

I thought it was really bad when it came out. I think I'm going to give it another go today.

This was the most hyped i've ever been for an album, and although it was not what I expected, it still met my hype and to this day I'll put it on once in a while

DAMN IT, I WAS GOING TO POST THIS.

But, yes, the Darkside remix album of this is one of my favorite works by them because it just radically re-interprets the source material turning what was a 70s-esque pop album into this challenging electronic album. Something like "Contact" becomes a borderline noise track with the crackles dominating the core melody of the track. It's a great remix album, actually a great album period. Check it out.

Yeah I consider it a disco funk album for sure.

Agreed.

Remember when we took the Florida trip and the leak of Get Lucky came out while we were driving? We must've played that shit 20 times in the car.

Personally, I feel it just doesn't hold up and feels better if I treat it as collaboration side project rather than a full blown Daft Punk release.

The album art sucks too and ruined an iconic streak.

Leave it to Nicholas Jaar to try and salvage it. And he succeeded.

I love this album. Great to see that many like Touch. Paul Williams's vocals at the start always give me goosebumps. So amazingly heartfelt.

Surprised that not many have mentioned Horizon. I love sitting back any having the melody and bass in that song wash over me.

Instant crush and lose yourself to dance still hold up as interesting, solid listens.

The rest of the album just faded away, having not much of anything memorable to hold on to.

Classic 5 * album.

Lose yourself to dance, contact and Giorgio by Moroder are too good.

Edit: Give life back to music.. ouf, so good.

Edit2: BTW shout out to this edit that released just before the album released.. there was SO much hype during release lol.

You do realize that Discovery had a Todd Edwards and Daft Punk collab in Face to Face, which is kinda poppy as hell (and wonderful for it)?

Get Lucky is a song forever etched my mind while deployed overseas. It reminds me now of the drunk parties when we were in port.

What an excellent album altogether though

Beautiful album. Put it on repeat for about a year when it came out. Touch is so goddamn beautiful. I go down a hole of memories, and also imagine my future when I listen to Touch. Hope they tour.
