I fucking love this album. Constant rotation now, just a great solid album, and like the heyday of 90s punk/ska.

Thanks so much thelongestj. Hope you find some songs you like on the playlist. I know Kill Lincoln is on the punk side of ska and my playlist skews more toward the traditional side, but there should be some stuff you'll enjoy. I have a few posts in the thread of punk/ska bands that I like to listen to so you could always check out those bands as well. Be sure to check out The Interrupters. Like Tamanon said on this page, it's like going back to the heyday of the 90s punk/ska sound.

I think I searched the thread right and didn't see:

Jeffries Fan Club

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0vH...sBku7buTpFU_zA

Gotta check them out. They were around in the late 90's early 00's. Orange County Ska.. the drummer played with Reel Big Fish at some point too later I think.

They played a few shows with my friends band, I think they only had the one CD ("nothing to prove"), but it's still one of my favorites. They had great live shows.

I remember that band. Don't think I've listened to their whole album, but I do remember hearing them on some ska comps like Hey Brother, Can You Spare Some Ska.

Yeah, the whole album is on Youtube, which is good because I have no idea where my CD went.. they probably did do a bunch of the comps back then.

Easy to listen to stuff, nostalgic for me I guess.

I Want to Be in Jeffries Fan Club had me and my friends singing along in the car _everytime_.

Haven't really listened to much ska in the past 10 years so reading through this thread now!

After JFC broke up, Aaron from Reel Big Fish got a bunch of them together in The Forces of Evil. FOE only ever put out one album, Friend or F.O.E., but it was pretty awesome. I especially like Angry Anthem and Maybe I'm Wrong.

Good timing on this thread. Hadn't listened to any ska in forever then went to a show in Denver a few weeks back:

Five Iron Frenzy w/ MU330, The Pilfers & Sorry Sweetheart

I'm not Christian, but I'd heard some Five Iron Frenzy in my junior high days, I mostly went because a friend was super stoked about it. Skanking is alive and well in the younger generation.

Looking forward to going through this thread and getting some new stuff!

I've been meaning to post this one. Kemuri came out with a new album called FREEDOMOSH. Not sure if you're familiar with them, but they are a really energetic Japanese ska band. They've been a favorite of mine for a long time. Definitely check out their stuff if you haven't.

Not sure if this has been brought up, but it is way high on my list of favorite ska albums. I'd post Spotify but I'm at work (on break, promise).

Hell, let's stick with Asian Man Records for this.

MU330 - Press ... a little bit more ska-core than pure ska

Blue Meanies - Kiss Your Ass Goodbye ... a little more ska than core, with weirdness between

The Bruce Lee Band - s/t ... it's from Asian Man founder and all-around best dude, Mike Park! This is more ska / ska, with a little speed mixed in. It's just Mike Park + another band. I believe this first one was Less Than Jake, another was Rx Bandits, and the most recent iteration is basically Jeff Rosenstock's current lineup, including Rosenstock himself.

Great stuff there. Blue Meanies is always great to listen to. Got more into Full Throttle than Kiss Your Ass Goodbye, but both great albums. In high school after my bands first show, a guy said we kind of sounded like Blue Meanies. Totally an insult to the Blue Meanies because we were terrible, but it was still cool. I really need to listen to that Link 80 album again too. Here's the Spotify link you wanted to post: https://open.spotify.com/album/62H7l0oMfY2yMqhodsfluH

Generally speaking, barring outright Nazis, I'm fine with acts having divergent politics from mine. Had to get past that real quick years ago when I discovered Feldman's PETA support.

Lol dude, The Berlin Project. I'm from a few hours east of Pittsburgh, I honestly never expected anybody to know who they were. They used to play shows at a local Jewish memorial center that we'd always rent out for shows in my tiny ass town. Ska is truly a small world.

I don't consider Sublime an out and out Ska band. Their style was a mash up of reggae, dub, ska and hardcore. The Specials are pure ska.

They had some fans in Wisconsin too. My friend just showed up at my house one day with the album. Not sure where he got it. Can still remember it said Taco Hell on it. Only song I can ever remember is that cover. I need to listen to that again somehow.

I have quite the history with Ska, including working with Ernest Ranglin who helped birth the genre.

This is from the band I've been in last few years

Here is a ska track from my first record

Some Jackie Mitoo who I think is one of the best instrumentalists to come out of Jamaica

And some Derrick Morgan (worked with him too) love this song
