After 20 years Turok has a REAL official soundtrack. This version was originally recorded in Darrens home studio back in 1997 when he was still living in Austin, Texas (and working for Iguana Entertainment). According to a post by Darren on his Facebook page, this album contains music that has never been released before, and was produced using the original equipment he had at the time. As a result, the album features a far superior sound quality than that of the original games soundtrack, and has been personally arranged by Darren as a concept album.
(thx N64 Blog for this news).
In all seriousness, though, this is neat - I just listened to a few tracks, and it pulled some memories of playing Turok nearly 20 years ago out of the depths of my brain that I would have sworn I forgot entirely. Memory is weird.
This is the track I was hoping to hear. Its the best track in the game IMO.
Are there hidden tracks between the 10 dollar purchase? Because as is, it's missing the underwater track, and I'm not seeing any tracks here that weren't in-game. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, by the way. Really cool on the composer's part, and I'd love to do a second playthrough on the PC remaster with these tracks modded in.
Someone put these on YouTube if anyone finds that convenient. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...mk98UWS0F0Uk7f
thanks to this thread!
I'm not 100% sure but I remember reading that Yuzo composed directly using the Megadrive chip... That would also explain why it sounded much better than most MD/Genesis games.
If Yuzo Koshiro were to do this with his Streets of Rage stuff I'd pay good money.
Edit: found it, he actually made his own editor and driver for the FM synth / chip. Others were using midi, he used the FM directly.
