Sorry I should rephrase myself not all of them are. It's a collection of different beings. Personally they sound very dangerous.

Legends 2: NINE
The Nine are survivors of the cis-Jovian colonies who made a compact with an alien force to ensure their own survival. The Nine are deep-orbit warminds who weathered the Collapse in hardened stealth platforms. The Nine are ancient leviathan intelligences from the seas of Europa or the hydrocarbon pits of Titan. The Nine arrived in a mysterious transmission from the direction of the Corona-Borealis super-cluster. The Nine are the firstborn Awoken and their minds now race down the field lines of the Jupiter-Io flux tube. The Nine are Ghosts who pierced the Deep Black without a ship and meditated on the hissing silence of the heliopause. The Nine are the aspects of the Darkness, broken by the Traveler's rebuke, working to destroy us from within. The Nine is a viral language of pure meaning. The Nine are the shadows left by the annihilation of a transcendent shape, burned into the weft of what is.

I thought the exotics shown looked pretty good.
Hand Cannon: Highlights targets you hit, and any targets killed explode (like firefly, but on body shots as well)
SMG: Automatically reloads whenever you pick up ammo, when the user takes arc damage the bullets chain electricity damage

I think there was one more that I don't remember.

Visually, the design of the hand cannon exotic was great! But... it also looked a bit weak in PvP. Granted, damage scaling is different, and the stats on the weapons themselves look like they may be playing against a different rulebook entirely (For example, there's no reason for Hand cannons to have "good" range anymore -- with the ability to wield two primaries, you shouldn't ever need your primary to be good at *all* scenarios, so a significant range drop across the HC archetype makes logical sense), but having perks like target highlighting or in the SMG's case a perk that only activates when you're being hit are not the best perks in the world (who wants to get damaged just to activate a perk!).

Hopefully these weapons make up for these things in the way they work holistically. Really want to see exotics *feel* exotic again.

I don't know, the damage didn't seem like anything special and giving the handcannon a slightly better firefly doesn't really do much for me.

I think what your seeing is what the exotics are gonna be from now on. Don't expect better. I have a feeling they're trying to avoid over powered weapons.

Personally I thought the handcannon looked cool and powerful. Making everything firefly is pretty handy.

1:11 guys was basically one shooting or 3 shooting enemies.

Explosive rounds, solar, highlights enemies, and firefly on kill no longer need headshot.

That's pretty destructive for pve.

Some quick thoughts on the Destiny 2 reveal.

My expectations were that Bungie would make small evolutions in the areas that Destiny 1 excelled, namely UI and gameplay, and rework the game around those. Those expectations were largely met.

First, it looks gorgeous. Notable step up from Destiny 1, particularly in the campaign mission shown and in details like foliage. I'm hoping there's not a huge difference between the PS4 Pro and the regular PS4.

My big wish list items for the sequel were:
  • Better ways to find people, including LFG for endgame content.
  • In-game Grimoire.
  • Larger, more explorable and more busy public spaces.
  • A greater focus on narrative that pushes the game world forward.
  • New classes and sub classes.

On paper, they met all of these expectations but the last. Bringing clans in-game and leveraging them for LFG strikes me as rather brilliant. The Destiny community is by and large wonderful, and I think that will hit the sweet spot for balancing needs of groups trying to pad out for a raid and solo players looking for sherpas. I'm sure bad experiences will happen, but this seems like a set up designed to minimize it.

They way they described the destinations has me excited, but execution will be key. Are Adventures that happen there going to be fun, or are they going to be a small grab bag of simple/repetitive activities like the Skyburners string of activities is on the Dreadnaught? If they're just three patrol activities strung together across a few areas, they'll fall flat pretty quickly. They need to have some meat on their bones. Likewise the mini-dungeons they described - if it's a couple of rooms with monster closets and a yellow bar mini-boss, I'll be disappointed. But conceptually, it sounds fantastic.

Putting the map of the destination in the UI and marking incoming public events will mean players exploring those zones will collect around them, which is what you want with public events. Given the player count bump in the destinations (was it 26?) they should feel a lot busier. Some of the best times I've had in Destiny was rolling public events with randoms, so I'm pretty excited to see what they have in the works here.

Even if they didn't do a demo, a trailer to show a bit of the new spaces would have been nice. They described public spaces and activities there as one of the key pillars of the game, and then didn't show anything. Odd decision.

Details like the new weapons, archetypes, slots, etc. sound good and sensible to me. My hope in making snipers and shotguns power weapons is that frees them up to really make them power weapons - it was so frustrating to have them fall down the power curve for the sake of Crucible balance as year 2 and 3 progressed.

Biggest disappoint was easily the lack of new classes, elements and sub classes. And I think that's the biggest tell that this had it's origin as a major expansion vs. full sequel. Reworking one subclass for each class doesn't cut it and they're rightfully getting a lot of grief on this front. I thought for sure we'd at least get one new class, or one new subclass. I was really looking forward to discovering a suite of new abilities and finding new play styles, and there was very little of that on display. This is exhibit A for people saying it's an expansion / Destiny 1.5 (which is otherwise a totally bullshit argument). I'm also cognizant that they left far more unsaid and unseen than they actually showed. This was a top line overview, with a lot of areas deliberately teased or just plain saved for later.

In total though, they showed what I wanted. A solid, if it ain't broke don't fix it approach to what worked in Destiny, major feature upgrades wrapped around it, and some big checks written that I hope Bungie is able to cash on the narrative and public spaces fronts.

Thought they werent allowed to talk about scorpio until after e3.

Besides they arent going to split the xbox user base, so i doubt the scorpio is anything but 30.

No. The power difference between Pro and Scorpio isn't enough for 60fps.

Likely be a higher resolution at most.

GPU wise, Pro and Scorpio can easily run D2 at 4k with all bells and whistles. It's the garbage CPU that's holding it back. That's the thing with Sony. They always seem to skimp out on something hardware related. For the last three generations it was memory but now it's CPU. Theoretically the PS3 CPU is better than the PS4.

Huh?... How is it a totally bullshit argument when you're in agreement with one biggest complaints that support it?

Aside from that, there plenty of other things that support said argument. The gameplay is pretty much the same aside from 3 new class-wide abilities and new Supers (which borrow from existing ones might I add). Returning weapon types show no significant changes visually or gameplay-wise and they're plainly reusing old models. The same old Destiny 1 mobs - with a couple of new ones - are scattered throughout the PvE gameplay footage. PvE footage shows more of the same types of environments and even the same kinds of mobs populating them (Vex mobs on a Vex planet, Cabal mobs on a Cabal ship, etc.). UI so far is roughly the same (which is a crime because they could added more item slots to weapons and gear, and do things like surface actual numerical stats). And even the player moans and groans when taking damage are pulled over from Destiny 1.

Its very easy and very logical to call this game Destiny 1.5.

I will literally never forgive Bungie for making Necro, Lord of Wolves, Vex, and Dreg's Promise trash for almost the entirety of D1.

Some of the most unique, awesome looking guns and yet completely useless.

At least Necro got some love, albeit years too late, and unfortunately LoW was cool as shit, but a standard shotgun did just as good.

Because of everything else I listed and everything else the game is doing. On the side of Destiny 1.5 is a similar UI (which I think is a good thing), retained core gameplay (also a good thing) and same classes (boo!). Against it are all new destinations, a complete reworking of public spaces, bumping the player count from 12 to 26 in them, reworking game flow (Director in the UI, local maps, etc.), the new and revised enemies (we fought Grunts, Jackals and Elites in nearly every Bungie Halo game, didn't make them any less of a full sequel), new weapon types, reorganized weapon slots and weapons that fit into them, a new campaign (said to be larger than the first, and most assuredly better from what we've seen), reworked Crucible with new maps and game types and focus, lore/Grimoire brought in-game, updated graphics engine and the clan and LFG systems. That's not expansion territory. We've gotten a big expansion with TTK, and this towers over it in terms of overhauling the game and building it out. And huge swaths of the game are still not yet shown or talked about.

I'm open to revising this view if some of the promises don't pan out, or if the changes are more shallow than they appear. But right now I see a sequel that kept what was good about Destiny 1 and reworks everything else, with a disappointing lack of new classes.

It's already happening? Thought they'd release it on E3...

BTW:
Game does feel like just another expansion, and it doesn't help that they are shipping the game with the same model of the first one (game with season pass of yet to establish content). I definitely don't think all the hate this game has gathered through the years will in any way shape or form hurt the sales. PC alone will skyrocket it, and I constantly see new players power-levelling through the game. I'm not surprised to see a Mass Effect Andromeda level of backlash from the reveal: people are just looking for reasons to hate the game more.
As for me the only thing I care about is Actvision keeping the in-game economy the way it is now, even if they have been nothing but greedy about it until now.

Hey everyone,

I played Destiny for a good few months until The Taken King came out. By then I had become bored but I downloaded TTK, used the emperor from Star Wars electric fingers special ability a couple of times and then never played again.

Can anyone in short let me know if TTK, and subsequent patches changed the game enough from how I remember that may make me want to go back and replay it for a bit?

Like 5 big changes that happened that would make the gameplay seem fresh?

Thanks!!

Ah well I would say missions got a lot better Ex. Platforming and structure.

Recent patch made all raids relevant again with added challenge modes for raid exotics. This is probably the biggest change.

Things that are confusing me right now:

1) People saying this is just an expansion.... I truly can't see what the heck that's about: it looks and feels like a great sequel in all the ways the community was asking of Bungie (story focus, LFG, improved visuals, PvP changes, adventure missions, more things to do etc)

2) People hating on it not being 60fps when it's the same gen as D1 on PS4/X1 with (from what I could tell) much improved graphics and some really cool particle effects - it's not like the Pro is that much of a powerhouse, it gets smoked by a mild PC these days. The 30fps of Destiny has always felt better than many 60fps games due to it's rock solid nature on PS4 IMO, I never expected the sequel to be 60...in fact I think that expectation is rather crazy considering the type of game it is (and I'm all about 60fps on most games as a mostly PC gamer).

It is crazy. No one and I'm sorry if you did, should've expected 60. Go play pc if you want 60 or more. If you really wanna blame someone blame the shitty CPU in consoles. Not the developer.

They made a game from what they saw the Destiny community mostly wanted. Seemed like they wrote a checklist and hit as many as they could.

Yes, there can always be more added and they will keep adding things. So is the benefit of a continuously updated world.
----
Anyway at the end of the day. As a destiny fan, I think our community just needs to give up the notion of defending this game and just enjoy it. If people don't want enjoy a well made game that's their choice. No need for us to waste our breath on them.

I don't get the "Destiny 1.5/Expansion" narrative tbh. Expectations must have been so high to think they'd make a completely different game and that was never going to happen. At least not with a 3 year development cycle which was really supposed to be 2 years at first. That's just unrealistic.

Fixing and expanding on the foundation that Destiny 1 built was the logical step to take.

I mean, let's take Dark Souls. I don't like it, but everyone seems to love it, so I wanna get into it, but it's very very punitive and I don't like the art style and the core mechanics. What do I do? Do I wait for the sequel and hope it's a completely different game? (Oh, it still looks like DS... lazy devs, I'm gonna pass this one too.)
It doesn't make any sense. And that's what many people are doing with Destiny, and I've never seen anything like that.

I loved the evolution and iterative nature of Destiny and look forward to continuing that evolution/experience with Destiny 2 which is easily my most looked forward to game and will continue to be my most played game (3000+ hours in game [4000+ counting orbit/social spaces] across 4 characters on Xbox [one deleted] and 1 on PS4).

Destiny 2 looks like a bigger, grander, more refined experience at the outset with attention supposedly paid to/focused on Patrol Exploration and generally more stuff to do like Lost Sectors, Public Events, Heroic Activities, Adventures, and Side Missions in addition to the tried and true Strikes and Raid to go along with big changes to the PvP side of things and hopefully their best and most significant Story Campaign.

Edit: And that's not to say that I thought/think everything was great with Destiny throughout it's evolution up to this point as I've had complaints just like every other player but the overall experience is still second to none for me. It just means Bungie and any other developer isn't catering to just one player, group, or community and never will.

With that, I did think they might add more elemental properties to the game like (gasp) poison and ice while also adding a system in how the elementals react to one another and the environment while maybe adding another class and a totally new subclass for each existing class. However, if they can tweak and rebuild each existing subclass and make them as balanced and viable across as many game modes as possible I'm fine with that too.

My biggest complaints were always the patrol play-spaces and the activities or lack of that you could do in them so I'm really looking forward to the bigger and seemingly more varied play-spaces where we'll be experiencing stuff like Lost Sectors, Adventures, etc while they hopefully continue to add playlists and different ways to keep old/existing content fresh on a weekly basis through modifiers, difficulty, rewards, etc.

Don't know if it's been said but I noticed a little something watching the presentation again. You can see how the public event timers work on the maps.

It looks like public events have diamond icons. Running around these icons is an orange outline that is slowly encircling the diamond. I would guess when it's fully around the event will begin. On one of the first views of the map in the presentation you see three of these icons, each at a different stage of their countdowns. On phone so can't easily get a screen cap.

Looking forward to the usual frame by frame analysis to come out from the community.

I'll actually look out for public events and join in now thanks to the in-game timer. I imagine public events will become more popular thanks to this.

It'd be awesome if you could select a public event on the map and join automatically when it's ready.
