I came across a lot of the other quirks and tricks on my own but I've never seen or heard of this. Not from EGM, Gamepro, GameFan, C&VG, etc. I'm not saying that I doubt that people knew, just that I didn't know even though I played it for years. Pretty cool though.

I understand what you are saying. Sometimes we definitely feel that we know everything about a game but then something completely new comes up. As I mentioned earlier, I did know about the Big Boo and Green Bubble because me and a friend discovered it by accident, but it never, not once, occurred to us to try it with the buzzsaw. I found out about that on this thread.

To name another example. I put thousand of hours on Super Mario Bros. 3 back in the day when the game was new, to the point I could beat the game in one run without skipping a single level. I definitely felt like I had left nothing unturned in that game... until I found out a couple of years ago that if you beat an Airship level while wearing a Frog/Tanuki/Hammer Bros. Suit, the King will say something different in his Thank You speech.

It is a common knowledge that you cannot ever stomp Boos, and you can only defeat it by using a Star Power.

So by this logic, why would you slide down to kill a bigger Boo? Is his butt strong enough to destroy a deadly toxic bubble? Is his butt also stronger than a Sawblade?

Is this also the reason why the Ground pound move is part of his moveset in the newer games?

Is this also the reason why Peach has a Butt attack in Smash?

I think Miyamoto is obsessed in butts.

As far as the sawblades. I mean come on, nobody knew that. That is a glitch for sure. Anyone who knew it was dicking around and found out on accident.

You would assume the ghosts are invulnerable to sliding because it only makes sense. They're non-corporeal entities that float in the sky and don't have any bearings with solid ground so your mind would assume they'd be dangerous no matter what.

And the saw is just even more logical since it's a fucking saw with sharp super fast moving teeth that no one in their right mind would slide into. Then again the saw wasn't meant to be killed. But the ghosts were obviously meant to be.

It's just a shame you can't bounce off ghosts and butt stomp them in Mario World like in 64. They never brought that back in 2D Mario did they? I don't think you can in the NSMB series. Can you slide into them in NSMB games?

Your reserve tanks must be empty, you must have at least 10 missiles, 10 super missiles and 11 power bombs and your energy must be under 50. Once this is done, set a power bomb, but when you do, hold down L, R, Down and X and keep it held down until Samus becomes surrounded in a ball of energy, which will re-fill all your energy tanks.

If you sit at the Title screen it shows you a few secrets/tutorial type stuff. I could have sworn it showed this too, but I'm watching it right now and it's not.

You can bounce off Boos in SMW by Spin Jumping on them. It only doesn't work on the ones that move around a set circle.

Seeing this gif and the saw blade one...it's really weird that they obviously programmed the game for the slide to be able to kill any enemy, yet no dead states/sprites for the saw blade and balls were created.

More likely you were never intended to kill those things but the power of the butt allows it.

The title screen demo changes depending on whether you've beaten the game. It only shows this move in if the last file you played was from a completed game.

The belly slide with the cape is the strongest attack in the game in terms of what it can hit (I do believe I've seen mentions that it can kill big boos either in the manual or the game guide). I guess the butt slide works the same way.

More fun: Speedrunners (at least TASers) have found that triggering a crystal flash when you're being grabbed by Draygon makes your ammo counters overflow to 65535.

The second I butt slid into the big Bullet Bill in SMW 1-1 I kinda figured that the slide insta-kills all enemies. That's how I eventually knew that big boo was killable.
And it was the only game I had for my GBA.

Did you know that, in SMB3, if you waited long enough around a chain-chomp, it would unchain itself and run after you?

https://youtu.be/_4THDnt3wSA?t=15

As for the thread itself, I think I knew about it but it's so situational that it's easy to forget about it. Obviously, the designers wanted it to be defeated that way. But, the side effect was that it could destroy other supposedly undefeatable sprites such as the razor blade and Lemmy & Iggy's fireballs (or the koopalings in castle 1 and 7 coz me and names).

But this thread man...
